ADVISO PARTNERS advises the executive shareholders of AMAND-BIANIC on the sale of the Group to POPY
06/2017

As part of the retirement of its four executive shareholders, the family-owned manufacturer of charcuterie products has been taken over by its counterpart POPY in the Rhône-Alpes region, thus generating €60 million in revenue in the andouille and andouillette markets.

Created in 2006 following the merger of two industrial charcuterie producers, BIANIC and AMAND, this specialist in local products (charcuterie, andouilles, andouillettes) and seafood products (terrines, salads and stuffed fish) was taken over by its regional counterpart POPY, as part of the retirement of the four executive shareholders; Michel and Claude BIANIC and Didier and Gilles AMAND.

Orchestrated by ADVISO PARTNERS at the beginning of 2017, the transaction attracted the interest of several cooperative groups and private players. In the end, POPY's offer was chosen, which reflected a trend towards a concentration in the andouille/andouillette sector on a market already controlled by three players (POPY, AMAND-BIANIC and LEMELLE account for 75% of the market volume).

Two complementary companies
With three sites in the west of France (Vire, Morlaix and Beignon), AMAND-BIANIC has been added to POPY's operations in the east. AMAND-BIANIC's HD, wholesaler and hyper- and supermarkets customers remarkably complement POPY's distribution channels. The group's quality brands and certifications, present in Normandy and Brittany, enhance POPY's already broad product portfolio, which now has nine brands.

The new entity, which brings together 368 employees across seven sites spread between the East and West of France, is still planning many other projects.

The undisputed leader of andouilles and andouillettes
This acquisition, financed by BANQUE POPULAIRE ALSACE LORRAINE CHAMPAGNE, BPIFRANCE, CIC OUEST and ARKEA BANQUE, gives POPY the broadest product range on the market.

Formed by successive acquisitions from 2000, POPY is keen to speed up its export development, particularly in Asia, where it is one of the few to have obtained approval for the local market. The Rhône-Alpes group, which is expected to remain attentive to external growth opportunities, intends to continue its efforts in terms of innovation.
